We have a new album to launch! It's called 'Live at OzManouche' and is dedicated to the memory of our friend and founder Jon Delaney. We are launching it at The Jazz Lab in Brunswick on Saturday 5 August at 2pm.

The album was recorded live at the Brisbane Jazz Club for the OzManouche Festival in November 2022 and features Paul Gillett (vocals, rhythm guitar), Salvatore Greco (accordion) and Enzo Ruberto (double bass) with Adam Russo on lead guitar and special guest, guitarist Cameron Jones on track 7.  The album features French chanson, jazz manouche standards, a few English language songs, an Italian classic, and two compositions by Jon Delaney: ‘Ballad for Sal’ and ‘Jon’s Bolero’. On that latter track, festival director Cameron Jones shares his personal memories of playing with Jon, and joins the band as guest guitarist.

You can listen to 'Live at OzManouche' right now on Bandcamp or on Spotify and other streaming platforms. We are not planning on releasing it as a CD at this stage but you can purchase a digital copy on Bandcamp

We're excited to be launching at our first gig at The Jazz Lab, one of Australia's greatest jazz clubs. Pick up your tickets here

‘Live at OzManouche’ was engineered by Mark Smith, and produced with the support of Radio 4EB (Richard Hamernik), the Brisbane Jazz Club and the OzManouche Festival. Album cover design is by Andy Lewis aka Lwnski.

March 2021: We are very sad to announce that our founding member Jon Delaney passed away after a long battle with cancer. Jon was a musical giant and he taught us everything we know about jazz manouche. La Mauvaise Réputation is his band and it always will be.

We miss him so much: not only his musicianship, but also his fierce intelligence, his warmth and his dark and glorious sense of humour. A man like Jon will never be forgotten. There are, without exaggeration, people across the world mourning his loss. Jon we’re thinking of you now and always, and sending our love to you and your wife Karen and son Connor.

Je suis venu te dire que je m'en vais
Et tes larmes n'y pourront rien changer
Comme dit si bien Verlaine, “au vent mauvais”
Je suis venu te dire que je m'en vais
